Connected Pension
In November, 1951 a law was passed authorizing this VA benefit for Veterans and their widows (or widowers). This little known Veterans' Pension Benefit is not connected to a service related injury and can be of great financial assistance to seniors in helping them to pay for long term care needs.
Purpose of Veterans Pension Benefit
This benefit was created to assist eligible Veterans and their widows/widowers with financial assistance to aide them with the ever rising high cost of out of pocket medical expenses.
What the Veterans Pension Benefit Pay for
Some of the medical expenses that can be covered by the Veterans Pension Benefit:
Yearly Benefit
For 2007 the annual benefit can be up to $21,615 for a couple, $18,234 for a veteran and up to $11,715 for a widow(er).
Military Qualifications
In addition to these military requirements there are income and asset requirements. These need to be evaluated on an individual basis. JEVS Home Care can provide assistance with the application process free of charge.
