Skills Training/Education: Building Trades

The Building Trades program at Orleans Technical Institute gives students the tools to begin building successful careers in the building trades. Orleans offers full- and part-time diploma programs that can be completed in as little as six months. Orleans provides the skills to get to work and get ahead, and the support to find a job and succeed in the workplace.

Services

  • Hands-on skills training and career preparation for entry-level positions in: Air Conditioning, Refrigeration and Heating; Plumbing and Heating; Building Maintenance; Residential and Commercial Electricity; and Carpentry
  • Training in use of equipment, machines, and technology
  • Personal support including advising, tutoring, and referrals to appropriate resources for assistance with barriers to completion
  • Job placement assistance
  • Résumé and job interview preparation
  • Continuing job search service as a resource to help graduates with job replacement and advancement as needed
  • Customized training for businesses

Eligibility

  • Must be age 18 or older and meet the minimum score requirements on admissions assessment tests in math and reading

Skills Training/Education: Court Reporting

Demand is high for trained court reporters. The NCRA-approved Court Reporting Program at Orleans Technical Institutes will allow individuals to earn an Associate’s Degree in Specialized Business and become skilled professionals with excellent earning potential who are prepared for a range of exciting, rewarding, and profitable careers.

Services

  • Comprehensive training in one skill set applicable to a variety of career avenues: official court reporting, freelance court reporting, Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART), and broadcast captioning
  • Training in use of computerized steno machines, specialized software, and computers
  • Personal support including advising, tutoring, mentoring, and referrals to appropriate resources for assistance with barriers to completion
  • Comprehensive internship program and job placement assistance
  • Résumé and job interview preparation
  • Continuing job search service as a resource to help graduates advance their careers

Skills Training/Education: Human Services

The need for trained professionals in the human services field in the Greater Delaware Valley continues to rise. Orleans Technical Institute’s Human Services program provides the training individuals need to make a living and make a difference and pursue a rewarding career they can feel good about.

Services

  • Skills training and career preparation for entry-level positions working with people in need or crisis: domestic violence, at-risk youth, seniors, disabilities, homeless, welfare, drug/alcohol recovery, ex-offenders, refugees, etc.
  • Credits transferable to Philadelphia University and Community College of Philadelphia
  • Personal support including advising, tutoring, and referrals to appropriate resources for assistance with barriers to completion
  • Comprehensive internship and job placement assistance
  • Résumé and job interview preparation
  • Continuing job search services as a resource to help graduates with job replacement and advancement as needed

Skills Training/Education: Home Maintenance and Repair

Want the ability to do-it-yourself? Orleans Technical Institute offers a Home Maintenance and Repair program that provides hands-on training to equip homeowners and potential homebuyers with the skills necessary to properly and safely maintain their homes.

Services

  • Curriculum includes: safety and fire prevention; seasonal maintenance; plumbing; heating and air conditioning systems; electrical systems; repairing sheet rock; painting and paperhanging; tiling and flooring; basic carpentry
  • Training in the proper, safe, and effective use of cleaning chemicals and equipment for the home
  • Hand tools and reference book provided upon completion of program

Eligibility

  • Homeowners or homebuyers age 18 or older
  • No experience necessary
