Another graduation season means another group of hundreds celebrating their accomplishments, and we at JEVS Human Services couldn’t be more proud as we aim to help people rebound and reskill for today’s workforce.
For some at JEVS, graduation means completing a high school education by earning a GED or high school equivalency program. For others, it means finishing a skills training course or pre-apprenticeship program—or receiving a certification or career credential—that will allow them to enter the workforce with confidence and experience. For all JEVS program graduates, it means opportunity!
Though students represent a wide variety of JEVS programs, they all have one thing in common: they are that much closer to achieving their employment potential in this evolving workforce environment. And our programs extend beyond offering educational options. At JEVS, we focus on the whole person, with a holistic approach to providing supports, resources, and dedicated staff who help the individual to succeed toward their goals while in the program…and sometimes move on to another JEVS program.
We at JEVS wish each and every individual success in all of their endeavors, now and in the future!
2022 JEVS Graduations
Here’s a quick glimpse at some of the graduation ceremonies and outcomes of our programs focused on career and technical education (CTE).
EduConnect – May 2022
The EduConnect program connects individuals throughout the region to our partner network of accredited, online universities, and helps them to earn their college degree (associate or bachelor’s), career certificate or credential. This past year, 64 students completed a degree program or one of our hybrid training programs in the health care industry, with career pathways focused on medical billing/coding, pharmacy technician, phlebotomy technician, and clinical medical assistant. Students then go on to complete national certification exams and find jobs through our employer partners, such as CVS and Labcorp. The special feature of this program is the support of success coaches.
Project WOW & IT Pre-Apprenticeship – June 2022
The Project WOW and IT Pre-Apprenticeship programs, housed at JEVS’s career training school in Northeast Philadelphia, Orleans Technical College, gives participants the opportunity to receive their high school diploma equivalencies and on-demand job skills to pursue a career in either building trades or information technology. As these programs target young adults specifically, many of the students say they want to get their lives back on track upon years removed from school without career skills, or after dropping out of high school. With dozens of students completing these training programs this past year, many then go on to a community college program, in-demand employment, or earning career credentials, such as CompTIA A+.
E3 Power Center City & STRIVE Future Leaders – June 2022
E3 provides educational pathways to out-of-school Philadelphia youth. STRIVE Future Leaders offers skills training, paid work experience, and job placement opportunities to justice-involved young adults aged 18-24. Both programs connect individuals to post-secondary education, paid work experience, adult mentorship, career coaching, and more—all with the goal of improving futures and investing in the future of the Philadelphia region’s workforce.

The Choice is Yours & Looking Forward – 2022
The Choice is Yours and Looking Forward help individuals who have been involved with the judicial system get a second chance through education and job readiness training. The TCY program is in its 10th anniversary this year, celebrating an 85% graduation rate, and about a 12% recidivism rate one year post-graduation.
JEVS’ Orleans Technical College – 2022
Orleans Technical College is one of the flagship CTE programs operated by JEVS, and provides students with a high-level, engaging educational experience. 245 students graduated this past year from career training programs that prepare them for careers in the building and construction trades. The school combines classroom instruction with hands-on learning tasks that are directly related to skills that employers are looking for. Orleans Tech is committed to ensuring its career training programs align with industry standards, focus on skill attainment, and offer industry-recognized credentials. Additionally, faculty members encompass many years of industry-specific experience, and they care about student success.
