John Colborn is an established leader in the nonprofit and workforce development fields with extensive knowledge of policy and practice. He previously served as the Director of Skills for America’s Future, an employer-led workforce development initiative of the Aspen Institute.
Prior to joining the Aspen Institute, John served as Vice President of Operations at the Ford Foundation, where he was responsible for overseeing grants administration, information technology, knowledge management, NY headquarters operations, and overseas operations. As a program officer with the Foundation, John made grants related to workforce development, community colleges, and community development finance.
John’s earlier career includes over twelve years of experience working for a variety of non-profit organizations, including The Reinvestment Fund, a community development financial institution serving the greater Philadelphia region. He holds Bachelor’s degrees in Government and Economics from Oberlin College and a Masters of Business Administration from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
John serves as Vice Chair of the Board of the Network of Jewish Human Service Agencies (NJHSA) and holds numerous volunteer positions with other national organizations.
