SUMMARY:Untapped Talent: Hiring & Retaining Individuals with a Criminal Background
DESCRIPTION:Join us for this 3-session program to learn how to improve your ability to hiring and retaining individuals with criminal backgrounds.\n\n\n85% of HR professionals and 81% of business leaders believe workers with criminal records perform their jobs just as well as or better than workers without criminal records. Over half (53%) of HR professionals said they would be willing to hire individuals with criminal records\, compared to just over a third (37%) in 2018. But how can HR professionals make even more progress in hiring and retaining these individuals? \nThis 3-week class happening 5/11\, 5/18\, and 5/25 (attendance is not required for all dates) will offer insight for employers and reentry professionals on how to improve their hiring and retention processes. The goal of the courses is to offer insight to both parties on how to make hiring and retaining individuals with criminal backgrounds an efficient\, inclusive\, and mutually beneficial process. \nTopic areas include: \n• Interviewing \n• Hiring Process – drug screening\, background checks\, identification and more \n• Hiring Incentives \n• Onboarding \n• Retention – tapping existing community supports \nJoin this 3-week course to learn more about how you can recruit and retain great employees from this untapped talent pool. \n1.25 SHRM Recertification Credits per session (pending approval)\n \n3.75 SHRM Recertification Credits total for all sessions \nAbout the presenters: \nAndrea Lopez\, Ph.D recently retired from her full-time faculty position at Temple University where she taught compensation management and business ethics in the Department of Human Resource Management. She is currently consulting in workforce development\, facilitating workshops\, and continuing to provide professional development support to students through TUSHRM. \nJeffrey Abramowitz\, J.D. is the Executive Director of Reentry Services for JEVS Human Services. Jeff is the Vice Chair of the Philadelphia Reentry Coalition\, sits on the Executive Board of the Coalition on Adult Basic Education (COABE)\, and chairs the State Advocates for Adult Education Fellowship Program. SUMMARY:Untapped Talent: Hiring & Retaining Individuals with a Criminal Background
DESCRIPTION:Join us for this 4-session program to learn how to improve your ability to hiring and retaining individuals with criminal backgrounds.\n\n\n85% of HR professionals and 81% of business leaders believe workers with criminal records perform their jobs just as well as or better than workers without criminal records. Over half (53%) of HR professionals said they would be willing to hire individuals with criminal records\, compared to just over a third (37%) in 2018. But how can HR professionals make even more progress in hiring and retaining these individuals? \nThis free 4-week class happening 10/7\, 10/14\, 10/21\, and 10/28 (attendance is required for all dates) will offer insight for employers and reentry professionals on how to improve their hiring and retention processes. The goal of the courses is to offer insight to both parties on how to make hiring and retaining individuals with criminal backgrounds an efficient\, inclusive\, and mutually beneficial process. \nTopic areas include: \n• Interviewing \n• Hiring Process – drug screening\, background checks\, identification and more \n• Hiring Incentives \n• Onboarding \n• Retention – tapping existing community supports \nJoin this 4-week course to learn more about how you can recruit and retain great employees from this untapped talent pool. \nAbout the presenters: \nAndrea Lopez\, Ph.D recently retired from her full-time faculty position at Temple University where she taught compensation management and business ethics in the Department of Human Resource Management. In her current role as an adjunct professor\, she is continuing to teach\, provide professional development support to undergraduate students and volunteer with JEVS Human Services Looking Forward program. \nJeffrey Abramowitz\, J.D. is the Executive Director of Reentry Services for JEVS Human Services. Jeff is the Vice Chair of the Philadelphia Reentry Coalition\, sits on the Executive Board of the Coalition on Adult Basic Education (COABE)\, and chairs the State Advocates for Adult Education Fellowship Program. Jeff was appointed to the Pennsylvania Reentry Council and Co-chairs the Reentry Committee for the PA Workforce Development Board.  Jeff is a subject matter expert for the US Department of Education on Correctional & Reentry Education. \n(After registering\, you will receive a confirmation email containing a Zoom link and information about joining the webinar.)
