JEVS Human Services is pleased to announce that Juliet Marsala has been named the Vice President of Community Health and Long-Term Supports. In this role, Juliet will direct JEVS’s supports coordination and nursing home transition work (including our affiliate program, Supports Your Way), lead efforts to grow these programs, and work to develop new service opportunities that enhance independence and dignity for seniors and individuals with disabilities.
Prior to joining JEVS, Juliet was Director of Community Support Services at Inglis where she worked with residents to foster supported employment opportunities and to coordinate care. Juliet’s background in supports coordination includes her five years with Supports Your Way, which she founded and managed until its acquisition by JEVS last year. She has also served in leadership roles with Resources for Human Development and Liberty Resources.
Juliet earned her bachelor’s degree from Bryn Mawr College and holds an M.S. in Rehabilitation Counseling from Rutgers University. She is currently pursuing her EMBA from Drexel’s LeBow College of Business.
We recently sat down with Juliet for a Q&A to talk about her career and what she hopes to bring to her new role at JEVS.
Q: Can you tell us about your background in Supports Coordination and why this work is so meaningful?
A: When I first thought of Supports Your Way in 2011, I wanted to build a place that was person-centered and truly dedicated to meeting people’s needs. I love being able to work with individuals holistically to coordinate their care. Through Supports Coordination, I am better able to help people access all of the resources they need to live independently. I truly believe there is an important role for supports coordinators; they are vital bridge builders.
Q: What attracted you to this position at JEVS Human Services?
A: JEVS has a wonderful, rich history of working with people from all walks of life to help elevate them to their full potential. I have always had a passion for helping others, and I wanted to bring my service coordination experience to JEVS so I can be a part of the change to positively impact the communities we serve. Now that Supports Your Way is under the care of JEVS, joining this organization feels a little like coming home.
Q: JEVS Supports Coordination currently supports individuals in Montgomery County, your home county. Can you describe what it means to be able to help fellow Montgomery County residents receive the services they need to achieve independence?
A: It gives me great pride to work with a team that is so dedicated to all of our communities. To have the opportunity to give to the community to make it better for my family and my neighbors is such a blessing. I was delighted to discover JEVS Supports Coordination is serving hundreds of Montgomery families. My main goal is to support individuals who are aging or have a disability so they are able to remain at home and be equal, vital members of their community. We need to keep shining the light on how we can eliminate societal barriers to be integrated in all communities.
We look forward to working with Juliet as we continue our mission of Making Hope Happen for the individuals we serve in the Philadelphia region.
