JEVS TechServ Scholars AmeriCorps Program
Gain Valuable STEM + IT Skills…and Serve Your Community!
The TechServ Scholars AmeriCorps Program, operated by JEVS Human Services, is a unique, year-long opportunity for youth who want to help their community through service and civic engagement, while developing technical, career skills.
LEARN…TechServ Scholars build skills for career pathways in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) and IT (Information Technology), gain certifications, and benefit from hands-on experiences guided by professional mentors.
SERVE…TechServ Scholars provide STEM and digital literacy training to younger youth and community members through the Philadelphia Department of Parks and Recreation’s public computer centers, schools and other community-based programs throughout Philadelphia, Harrisburg and Camden, NJ.
These “Learn and Serve” experiences allow TechServ Scholars to gain career exposure and advanced knowledge for the workforce. And, they develop crucial workforce “soft skills,” such as leadership, project management, problem-solving and customer service. During their year of training and service, Scholars have an opportunity to create a professional portfolio of their skills and achievements. In addition, they may prepare for entering into a STEM-related registered apprenticeship program and/or pursue higher education.
We are currently enrolling for our program in Camden, NJ, which runs Oct 2020-Aug 2021.

"Before coming into this program, I didn't really like the computer. I wasn't using them at all. With the help of my mentors, now I can take apart laptops, towers, tablets. The best part is I can teach others these skills and also how to use Excel, Word and PowerPoint. This program has opened doors for me. I'd like to go to college for business and technology and perhaps study abroad in Japan."
