Volunteering means contributing time and effort, supporting a worthy cause, and helping those in need. Volunteering at JEVS is not only good for the people we serve, it also offers benefits to you, the volunteer, providing a sense of community and purpose.
When you are ready to take the plunge, consider volunteering at JEVS Human Services, and join the scores of individuals, organizations and businesses throughout Philly who are committed to making a meaningful contribution to the community.
Volunteer Opportunities at JEVS Are Many
From organizing the spring Youth Prom to staffing our #DoingTuesday donation drive, volunteers give their time and talent in a variety of ways.
Volunteers have made themselves available to tutor, mentor, and educate the individuals we serve on such topics as financial literacy, conflict resolution, and communication skills.
Others have provided companionship to residents of our residential homes, or assisted with building and grounds maintenance.
“I get as much from volunteering for JEVS as do the clients and consumers I work with.”
“I get as much from volunteering for JEVS as do the clients and consumers I work with,” says JEVS Foundation board member Ben Zuckerman. “Experiencing their determination to better their lives and learning of the many obstacles they’ve overcome is an inspiration and a motivator that keeps me involved with the many outstanding programs that JEVS administers.”
Organizations Make Great Volunteers, Too
“Rivers Casino Philadelphia is proud to be a dedicated business partner and friend to community organizations like JEVS,” says Emily Costa Doñes, community relations manager at Rivers Casino. “To us, volunteering at JEVS means we extend our hand and heart to support your programs and serve those in need.”
JEVS has been fortunate to have the support of many corporations and organizations throughout the community. Recently, TD Bank held career days for our youth and young adult students; BB&T Bank has held financial literacy seminars in various programs; and State Farm collected items for our backpack drive.
In January 2020, PVCMA members (above) held a new coat drive which resulted in over 40 men’s, women’s and children’s coats to benefit families in JEVS programs. Also in January, Macquarie Inc. held a mock interview/mentoring session with our Project WOW students as part of their MLK Season of Giving campaign.
