Why I Love My Job as a DSP

Rabi is a Direct Support Professional for JEVS Community Living and Home Supports, where she has worked for over eight years.

“What first got me interested in being a DSP is that I have a nurturing spirt and I care a lot. I care a lot about people, how they feel, and I emphasize with people. I put myself in their position and consider, ‘how would I want somebody to treat me?’ […] I got into this work to make a difference in their life, and every day I go back home knowing I’ve done the best I can. And, I think, made their life a little better than when I came in the morning. For me, the most beautiful thing is to walk through the doors and hear, ‘Hey Rabi! Good morning, Rabi!’ That starts the day off. That’s how it is.” – Rabi U.
