
Independence Network empowers young adults with disabilities to live independent and full lives while receiving the supports they need to continue to grow in their independence. Members live in their own apartments and are active members of their communities. JEVS currently has programs in the following communities:
- Philadelphia Independence Network-PIN (Narberth, PA)
- Independence Network (Collingswood, NJ)
Services
- Each member receives a mix of services, customized to their needs and changing as they grow. Services may include, but are not limited to, independent living skill instruction and strategies, employment support and coaching, guidance in resolving apartment-mate or friendship issues, opportunities to socialize and engage in community events and activities, team and community-building techniques, community and home safety discussions, and group financial management discussions
- Career development
- We encourage an active, healthy lifestyle and help members get involved in their community
- Independence Network staff make regular, individual home visits to monitor home safety, offer recommendations for needed adjustments, and provide individualized support
- On-call support for non-emergencies available on a 24-hour basis
- Families serve as an active “advisory board” and serve on additional sub-committees
Eligibility
- Includes young adults with any disability who have lived or can demonstrate the potential to live independently
Enrollment
- Members find and pay for their own housing; must be willing to work, volunteer and/or be involved in an educational program
