Rodney

Achieving Independence

Meet Rodney

Born with cerebral palsy, Rodney realized at a young age that he was going to have a different life. Despite his physical limitations, Rodney was always optimistic.  The support he received from his family showed him that there wasn’t any barrier he couldn’t get around or find the resources to get around.

“JEVS allows me to truly live on my own. JEVS made it happen for me.”

A Helping Hand

Seeking the resources he needed to live a full, independent life, Rodney enrolled in JEVS Supports Coordination, a program that assists individuals who have a physical disability to help them stay in their own homes. With help from JEVS, he had modifications made to his home, including a stair glide and an automatic door opener.  These modifications, coupled with assistance with daily living activities and transportation, have supported Rodney’s independence and aspirations.

Achieving Independence

Currently, Rodney works in the electronics department at Walmart. He loves working with the customers but, more importantly, takes pride in providing for his two young children.  His career goals have led him to pursue online IT certificates that he hopes to parlay into his own technology business.  Rodney credits JEVS with helping him become the man and father he always hoped he would be.
