What is Prolonged Exposure Therapy?

JEVS Human Services offers evidence-based Prolonged Exposure (PE) Therapy for people dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). PE therapy helps individuals to break the cycle of avoiding thoughts and behaviors linked to PTSD. Therapists guide sessions where individuals safely confront triggers, leading to reduced trauma-related symptoms. Our dedicated team provides information to help organize and understand memories of challenging experiences and the associated thoughts and beliefs. Through this process, individuals often experience improved well-being and healing.

Prolonged Exposure Therapy is appropriate for:

  • Individuals with a serious mental illness seeking wellness, socialization, independence, community integration or employment
  • Individuals with prior justice system involvement

What Can I Expect?

  • One-to-one sessions with a PE Therapy trained and certified counselor
  • Three months of therapy, including follow-up
  • Coordination with other JEVS Integrated Behavioral Health services, as needed
