PWDA 2026 Conference Recap: The Role of Diversion and Re-entry in Workforce Development

As the Program Assistant for the Diversion & Reentry Division at JEVS Human Services, Nazaaha Epps attended the Pennsylvania Workforce Development Conference, where she gained valuable insight into innovative approaches supporting individuals involved in diversion and reentry services. The experience also provided an opportunity to connect with professionals across the field and strengthen collaborative learning within workforce development.

One of the most impactful sessions she attended was the Reentry Navigator Simulation, which offered participants firsthand perspective on the real-life challenges individuals often face after involvement with the justice system. The simulation illustrated the many barriers that can impact successful reentry and long-term stability. Participants experience the challenges of obtaining identification documents, accessing essential resources, and navigating complex systems with limited time and support,

This experience reinforced Nazaaha’s commitment to the work of the Diversion & Reentry Division. It also deepened her understanding of the importance of compassionate guidance, meaningful support, and strong community connections in helping individuals move forward with confidence and opportunity.

At JEVS Diversion & Reentry, the team believes every person who walks through their doors is family. They strive to create a supportive environment where individuals feel seen, valued, and empowered throughout every step of their journey.

JEVS Work Ready Third Annual Toy Drive Brings Joy to Families in Need

The JEVS Work Ready program hosted its annual Toy Drive once again this holiday season, continuing a tradition of giving back to families in the community. This year’s event supported 68 families and 191 children, helping make the holidays a little brighter for those in need.

“It brings me joy to know I helped lighten the load for a few families in my community. It will make my holiday that much sweeter,” said Nicole Quann, Resource Coordinator.

The toy drive was made possible through the generosity of Kerry Wilson and Regina Jones, friends of Karen Clarke, Home Learning Toolkit Facilitator. Their support provided approximately $3,000 worth of toys, games, clothing, and coats, which was matched by the Work Ready program, bringing the total to $6,000. Families also enjoyed a warm hot chocolate station, adding a cozy and welcoming touch to the event.
