Recognizing the Vital Role of Direct Support Professionals

Did you know that Direct Support Professional (DSP) caregivers help thousands of individuals live independently in their homes and be active in their communities?

That’s because DSPs empower individuals with disabilities to maintain autonomy by helping them complete daily activities. DSPs serve as guides, mentors, and non-medical caregivers, assisting individuals in reaching their full potential and leading fulfilling lives.

Congratulations to the Certified DSPs at JEVS!

Direct Support Professionals provide dedicated care that enable eligible individuals to retain independence and live at home, which honors the capability and dignity of each person.

In order to offer the highest quality of support, DSPs complete various trainings to receive their certification levels.

Recently, 3 DSPs from JEVS graduated and received new DSP certifications from the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP) E-Badge Academy.

  • Gianna McCallough – DSP 1 certification
  • Luis Santos Barreto – DSP 1 certification
  • Faith Oyugi – DSP 3 certification

These certifications empower DSPs with the best practices and industry knowledge required to excel in their roles, ensuring that the individuals they support receive top-tier care and assistance.

In recognition of their immeasurable contributions and vital work, JEVS celebrated Direct Support Professionals during the national annual DSP Week in the second week of September!

JEVS Recognizes Direct Support Professionals (DSP) Week

The work of DSPs goes far beyond simply assisting with daily tasks. In fact, they’re a driving force behind the independence, confidence, and growth of those they support.

During DSP Week, members of the JEVS team treated DSPs to complimentary smoothies and also dropped food and giveaway items to residential homes.

Their participation in ongoing certification training illustrates their dedication, and we’re grateful for their commitment to those we serve!
